If you need a unique team building construction activity with a fantastic finale, then Team on Track could be for you. This activity works as a standalone event or as part of a multi-activity experience. How our team building construction activity works
We deliver to each table a box or bag with all the building materials required. These contain simple canes, cable ties and elastic bands. There are enough for everyone and these are quickly dispersed around the table.
Then it’s time for the briefing. Our instructors demonstrate exactly what is required to be built and then also show the techniques required for later. This is when the track is joined together and a sponge ball must travel smoothly and safely over everyone’s section.
Your team is against the clock. The construction phase must be done quickly as the next section is where all the problems become apparent. We let tables practise passing the ball to each other and that is when participants realise it takes real patience and skill.
Without a steady hand, eye contact, supportive words, confidence and a little luck, the ball instantly falls. Team members have only a few minutes to learn these skills before the finale begins.
Groups can either stand and become one long snaking rollercoaster track from one end of the room to the other, or have multiple shorter tracks for a more competitive conclusion.
Then it’s time for the finale ball release! A ball or multiple balls are released and, slowly but surely, it makes its way, helped by being ‘gently’ tipped along every piece of the homemade railway track.
Our beady-eyed instructors are watching for any fallen balls, sending the balls back as a penalty. There are wails of disaster, screams, hoorays and sighs of relief as each ball arrives, traverses and safely leaves every individual along the route.
Eventually, the winning ball arrives over the last section and there is a roar of success from the room.
